Ode to R.L is a heartfelt collaborative album in honor of the late Hill Country Blues legend R.L. Boyce, born out of a magical night at Luther Dickinson’s Zebra Ranch Studios in Coldwater, Mississippi. Originally recorded during the pandemic while artists were off the road and hungry to create, the session became an impromptu summit of Hill Country and regional blues talent, including Christone “KingFish” Ingram, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Sharde Thomas, Jontavious Willis, Cam Kimbrough, and more. For G. Love, playing harmonica alongside R.L. that night was a dream realized, raw, soulful and full of laughter. After releasing Philadelphia Mississippi, G. Love and producer Logan Tichnor revisited the tapes and uncovered a powerful idea: sampling and reimagining R.L.'s performances into a fresh, contemporary context. Logan’s vision transformed the recordings into new tracks that fuse Hill Country Blues with modern grooves, capturing both R.L.'s spirit and the energy of the studio that night. Work on the project continued while R.L. was alive, but after his passing, it took on even deeper meaning. Ode to R.L stands as both a celebration and continuation of R.L. DESCRIPTION
Motown producer and songwriter Norman Whitfield assembled The Undisputed Truth to further explore the psychedelic soul he had been developing with the Temptations on songs like ‘Cloud Nine’ and ‘Psychedelic Shack’.
Joe Harris, Billie Calvin and Brenda Evans were assembled as the vocal front line and their first single was ‘Save My Love For A Rainy Day’/’Since I’ve Lost You’ that was released on Gordy in February 1971 and got to #43 on the R&B Chart.
It was followed by ‘Smiling Faces Sometimes’/’You Got The Love I Need’ that was a massive hit single getting to #2 R&B and #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their debut album “The Undisputed Truth” followed and not only contained all four tracks issued on 7” but an almost interstellar version of ‘Ball Of Confusion (That’s What The World Is Today)’, ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’ as well as very soulful prowl through Bob Dylan’s ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. Tracks like ‘California Soul’ and ‘Aquarius’ also ticked the psychedelic soul box. All told it was a fantastic debut and sold strongly.
Amazingly this fantastic album has not been repressed since 1972. Thus Ace are delighted to put it back into the record racks pressed on 180gm black vinyl.
With the planet still a ‘Ball Of Confusion (That’s What The World Is Today)’ records like speak to both an old and new generation. Good music never goes out of fashion.

What it is, is funky! When the acid jazz scene ruled the world it looked for its inspiration in places that other jazz fans tended to overlook. The soul jazz of the late 60s and early 70s. The music of lounge bars and small clubs that fuelled the night life of black America. This compilation brings together ten examples of the sound and is a high quality listen from start to finish.
In the post-bebop world jazz was often condemned as an intellectual music aimed at the head not the feet, but a strain of the music was always for dancing, coming straight from the legacy of the big bands, and always tipping its head to what was going on in the R&B charts. The tracks included here all stay true to that legacy.
So whether we have Lonnie Liston Smith’s plea for 'Peace & Love' with its Bob Marley echoing horn lines, or Joe Bataan as band leader covering Isaac Hayes' 'Theme From the Men', this is music allied with the contemporary sounds of the day. Oliver Nelson's synth heavy 'Skull Session' or his TV hit 'Theme From The Six Million Dollar Man' covered by Richard ‘Groove’ Holmes show this. At the heart of these recordings are the rhythms − and as such Bernard Purdie is the star either as a solo artist or simply as the man behind the kit with Harold Alexander.
This is Funky Jazz is an entry ticket to a party that everyone should want to be invited to.

The wonderfully favourable response to our first CD and double vinyl volume of the original A and B sides of the singles of the late great Isaac Hayes – as originally released on Stax’ Enterprise subsidiary between 1969 and 1972 – has forced us to bring forward, this month, the release of “Hot Buttered Singles 2” to cater for what Ace is sure will be just as great a level of popular demand.
This volume picks up where “Hot Buttered Singles Vol 1” left off with Hayes’ final 45 of 1972, and carries his seven inch story through to 1976 – by which time Stax was defunct, and Hayes’ was on his own Hot Buttered Soul label via ABC Records. It features eight US R&B chart hits including the much sampled ‘Hung Up On My Baby’ and ‘Chocolate Chip’, Hayes’ biggest hit of this period ‘Joy’ and the ever-popular 1976 instrumental ‘Disco Connection’, which finally gave Hayes’ his second UK Top 20 hit after ‘Shaft’.
All tracks match the original single edits, and wherever possible are taken from digital transfers of the original Enterprise singles masters. Where the original 45s came in two parts, they also do so here. And where original singles masters no longer exist, as was the case for two tracks, Ace’s engineers have re-created them beat for beat from the longer album versions. (Have fun guessing which two they were…)
As with “Hot Buttered Singles Vol 1”, the LP inners and CD booklet are packed with label shots, copious other images and an extensive sleeve note that gives deep detail about the featured songs. It also makes the package look as good as it sounds.

To kick off Ace Records 50th Anniversary we are delighted to offer up a 2-LP version of one of the most seminal and important heavy metal albums of all time.
Funded by and released on Chiswick Records in 1977, Motörhead’s debut album was a sonic blister of epic proportions capturing the musical lighting generated by Lemmy (bass/vocals), Phil Taylor (guitar) and Eddie Clarke (drums).
This 2-LP set not only offers up this classic first album featuring tracks like ‘White Line Fever’, ‘Violator’ and ‘Keep Us On The Road’ but also collates together, on sides three and four, ‘City Kids’ the “Beer Drinkers EP” as well as different mixed and alternative versions of ear-bleeding classics like ‘Motörhead’, ‘The Watcher’ and ‘Keep Us On The Road’.
The album cover features a silver hot foil replication Joe Petagno’s original Motorhead logo in all its glory. Sleeve notes are by Ted Carroll who takes the reader through the story of how Chiswick Records managed to scrape together the money to fund the recording and write themselves and Motörhead into rock and roll history.
It’s one hell of a way to kick off Ace’s 50th Anniversary re-issue schedule.

Eramus Hall formed in the late 70s and, christened by Funkadelic’s George Clinton, signed to Westbound Records. They released their first single - ‘Do The Rock/Think Positively’ – in 1979 and - ‘She Shined A Light/Stuck In The Mudd’ – in 1980.

Their debut album was also released in 1980 and served up a sublime blend of soul shot through with elements of P-Funk. Only waxed in America, the album sold poorly, but over time it has been hailed as a classic with original copies sought after by collectors worldwide and now sell for hundreds of pounds. For the record, a second album “Gohead” followed in 1984 on Capitol.

Although Ace have reissued “Eramus Hall” in the past this edition has long sold out. Now, this new remastered edition replicates the original US 1980 pressing with yellow Westbound labels and the original lyric inner sheet.

DESCRIPTION
Allen Toussaint’s debut as a solo artist, “The Wild Sound Of New Orleans” was released in 1958 under the name of Tousan. In the 60s, he established himself as a songwriter, producer and arranger for a number of labels and generated hits like ‘Working In The Coal Mine’ for Lee Dorsey that got to #8 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. Other classic tracks that Toussaint either wrote, produced or arranged included ‘Fortune Teller’, Lipstick Traces’ and ‘Ooh Poo Pah Do’.
It was only in 1970 that he found time to record another solo album, aptly entitled “Toussaint”. As well as serving up his own version Of ‘Working In The Coal Mine’, Toussaint recorded other originals like ‘From A Whisper To A Scream’ and ‘Everything I Do Is Gonna Be Funky’. There were also four instrumental tracks – ‘Pickles’, ‘Louie’, ‘Either’ and a sublime version of ‘Cast Your Fate To The Wind’ listed as ‘Allen Toussaint at the piano’.
The original version of Toussaint was released in 1970 on Scepter records and is now hailed as a soulful classic. Ace were delighted to first reissue it in 1985 as “From A Whisper To A Scream” with the addition of a bonus track and with a slightly different running order.
On “Toussaint” we present the original album as Allen Toussaint intended it to be heard. Remastered to perfection this is an essential purchase.

Little Brother’s sophomore release delivered a solid follow up to their debut The Listening and cemented the group’s standing as one of the most important hip hop acts of the 2000s. The Minstrel Show was prominently feature in the hip hop media of the era–with XXL giving the album an "XL" rating and Scratch Magazine calling it a perfect 10 out of 10. The Minstrel Show debuted at number 56 on the Billboard Top 200.
To celebrate the release’s 20th anniversary, the project has been remastered for vinyl from the original ADAT tapes by Chris Boerner at The Kitchen Mastering and is presented for RSD Black Friday with the original Young Guru mixes in a 180g pressing. Also included, an insert with unseen photos and information, a commemorative Obi strip and two bonus cuts, “Hold On” and “The Olio”, that were not included on previous vinyl issues.

DESCRIPTION
En Vogue was formed in the late 80s by Oakland-based production and songwriting duo Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy when they recruited vocalists for their release “FM2” for Atlantic. The concept was simple, a modern-day girl trio in the tradition of the Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, the Ronettes and the like who had flourished in the early 1960s. Approximately 3000 women attended the auditions with Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones making the final cut. The group expanded almost immediately to a quartet with the addition of Terry Ellis who was initially heartbroken when missing the audition due to a delayed flight. Their debut, Born To Sing, went on to be certified Platinum three times over, propelled by four major singles, including "Lies", "You Don't Have to Worry", and "Hold On" (which was famously interpolated on the LL Cool J song “The Boomin’ System” from the same year), all of which peaked at the number one slot on Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart. In addition to their immediate success, the group influenced the wave of vocal groups throughout the 90s, with a line-up of En Vogue continuing to this day. DESCRIPTION
This album marked the second solo collaboration (and third collaborative effort overall) between highly decorated Griselda captain/Drumwork founder Conway the Machine, and mysterious underground production phenom Big Ghost Ltd.
After the critical successes of both Griselda Ghost (along with Westside Gunn) and No One Mourns The Wicked, it seemed like a no-brainer that the two would likely team up once again. The results this go round were a more ambitious beat selection, and topics ranging from personal loss to mental health struggles to lifelong regrets. Of course, no Conway album would be complete without him shooting up some spots, putting holes in animate objects, and being a general menace to society, and La Maquina is more than happy to oblige.
Album guests include frequent Roc Marciano collaborator Knowledge The Pirate, lyrical heavyweight Ransom, and eventual Griselda signee Rome Streetz, as well legendary turntablist D Styles providing characteristically mind-bending scratches on several of the songs.

"Mr. Money Man" was written during a series of sessions last year, as part of the duo’s ongoing effort to channel the timeless vibes of 1960s Studio One. Ace Records close the curtains on their 50th anniversary celebrations with a royal flush of classic releases that define the label. First up is our classic Link Wray compilation album “The Early Years” which Ace originally released in 1978.
Backed by his Raymen this album showcased tracks from his years with the Swan label and contains classic Link Wray instrumental tracks such as his prowl through the ‘Batman Theme’, ‘Rumble’. ‘Jack The Ripper’, ‘Ace of Spades’ and many more.

The Damned took great delight in putting up this fictional umbrella under which they covered all manner of 60s classics such as The Human Beinz ‘Nobody But Me’, The Seeds ‘The Wind Blows Your Hair’ and The Litter’s ‘Action Woman’.
The front cover artwork purported the fiction that it was the soundtrack to a lost 1967 film. The original version of “Give Daddy The Knife Cindy” released in 1984 was waxed on purple vinyl although since then we have pressed it on black.
This limited edition of 500 is pressed on purple vinyl. With the Damned remaining red hot and approaching their 50th anniversary year in 2026, this one is sure to sell out before you can sing ‘I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)’.

DESCRIPTION
This compilation of the best of Gil Scott-Heron’s Flying Dutchman output was originally released in 1974 and pulled together tracks from his first three albums “Small Talk At 154th And Lennox” (1970), “Pieces Of A Man” (1971) and “Free Will” (1972).
Ace first reissued this album on vinyl in the UK in 2017 (BGPD 306) although that version came in a single sleeve with a printed inner.
This version restores “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” to its original Flying Dutchman format in a gatefold sleeve. The music and words - pressed on 180gm vinyl - are as relevant today as they were in the early 1970s.
