Only 1000 copies got pressed and this dancefloor filler is still an active 45 in DJ sets worldwide. This Neo-Boogie slam is with no doubt a classic already.
Cool Million’s banger and title track off their 2010 album “Back For More” is a teaming up with vocal legend, Eugene Wilde, a soulful synth funk jam, and has remained one of Cool Million’s most streamed singles.

DESCRIPTION
Rakim is an American rapper best known as one half of the legendary rap duo Eric B. & Rakim.

Rakim is considered a transformative figure in hip hop for raising the bar for MC technique higher than it had ever been. Rakim helped to pioneer the use of internal rhymes and multisyllabic rhymes, and he was among the first to demonstrate the possibilities of sitting down to write ntricately crafted lyrics packed with clever word choices and metaphors rather than the more improvisational styles and simpler rhyme patterns that redominated before him.

Rakim is also credited with creating the overall shiftfrom the more simplistic old school flows to more complex flows. Rapper Kool Moe Dee explained that before Rakim the term 'flow' wasn't widely used – "Rakim is basically the inventor of flow.

We were not even using the word flow until Rakim came along. It was called rhyming, it was called cadence,
but it wasn't called flow. Rakim created flow!"

Soulkitchen is a Not only Germany’s first pure Rare Groove music club, and one of the first on the globe, it was also the homebase of “The Soulkitchen Cookin’ Crew”, a DJ-team which took its international audience by storm with an increasingly infectious, and deliciously danceable meal of Soul and Heavy Funk.
The subsequent founding of the record label Soulciety with signings of Soul and Funk legends like Bobby Byrd, Roy Ayers, Lonnie Liston Smith, Eddie Bo, Roger Troutman, Dean Francis and many more, emphasized the true and ambitious love for original Soul music from the late Sixties, Seventies and early Eighties. Ever since, “The Soulkitchen Cookin’ Crew” has been doing its thing worldwide, playing live and DJing in the original, immortal Rare Groove style.
In 2003 “The Soulkitchen Cookin’ Crew” started producing and recording their first album, creating original and so called „New Heavy Funk“ tunes, firstly in a very original raw soul style, just known from their 30 years ago founded 7“ label „Hot Pie & Candy Records“ they established for the legendary „Poets Of Rhythm“, the Munich band they signed in 1993.
Later adding more grown up well arranged and produced songs with a late 70ts feel.
It took them 12 Years to finish it and another 8 years more to release it and though after 20 years after the start of creating a full length album it has had its digital birth in 2023. But now for the first time ever the first track is pressed on vinyl.
Two bangers on one 7“-single, one side featuring the original version and a Rob Hardt Boogie Funk remix on the flipside.

Bull & The Matadors have long been a staple on the northern soul scene. Their sides for Chicago's Toddlin' Town Records have lit up dancefloors at all-nighters for decades. Avis would see two releases in total, a Ray Sharp solo record (AVIS-1002) but more relative to our story, The Ebonys - Back In My Arms b/w I Can't Help But Love You (AVIS-1001). Recorded in 1968 and released in 1969 the record failed to chart, or maybe get radio play at all. This was the very first release for Clarence, David, James, and Jennifer as The Ebonys. Written and produced by Ray and arranged by the late, great Roland Chambers, the single seems to have long been forgotten. Perhaps it was overlooked, or overshadowed by the very successful career The Ebonys would go on to have at PIR, under Gamble & Huff. In 1971, The Ebonys' single You're The Reason Why was in the ten on the U.S. R&B Charts, a first for PIR. Fifty-five years later, after a seemingly endless effort by Raymond Waterhouse to relive some of that late 1960s glory with later bands like Waterhouse, Live A Little, Profit, The Four Accents, The Ebonys original reel-to-reel master tapes from the Avis label sessions have been found and remastered and sound as good today as they did back in 1969. In that original session for Ray at Sigma Sound Studios with Joe Tarsia doing the mix, there were three songs done in total, which will finally see a proper release on a 7" / 45rpm.

Raúl Llerena, aka Ranil, was one of the central figures of the Amazonian music scene. Based in Iquitos, he founded his own record label –Producciones Llerena– and shaped what is now known as the psychedelic sound of Amazonian cumbia.
The few LPs and 45s released on his label are legendarily hard to find, let alone the condition… Some of them were issued under the name Ranil y su Conjunto Tropical. They recorded this hypnotic and percussive version of ‘Sonido amazónico’ that was released as an LP-only track.
We're now pleased to release it for the first time as a 45, to the delight of DJs and 7”s collectors.
On the flipside we find Los Wembler’s de Iquitos, responsible for some of the most popular songs of the psychedelic cumbia genre, including the outstanding ‘Sonido Amazónico’.

The wonderfully favourable response to our first CD and double vinyl volume of the original A and B sides of the singles of the late great Isaac Hayes – as originally released on Stax’ Enterprise subsidiary between 1969 and 1972 – has forced us to bring forward, this month, the release of “Hot Buttered Singles 2” to cater for what Ace is sure will be just as great a level of popular demand.
This volume picks up where “Hot Buttered Singles Vol 1” left off with Hayes’ final 45 of 1972, and carries his seven inch story through to 1976 – by which time Stax was defunct, and Hayes’ was on his own Hot Buttered Soul label via ABC Records. It features eight US R&B chart hits including the much sampled ‘Hung Up On My Baby’ and ‘Chocolate Chip’, Hayes’ biggest hit of this period ‘Joy’ and the ever-popular 1976 instrumental ‘Disco Connection’, which finally gave Hayes’ his second UK Top 20 hit after ‘Shaft’.
All tracks match the original single edits, and wherever possible are taken from digital transfers of the original Enterprise singles masters. Where the original 45s came in two parts, they also do so here. And where original singles masters no longer exist, as was the case for two tracks, Ace’s engineers have re-created them beat for beat from the longer album versions. (Have fun guessing which two they were…)
As with “Hot Buttered Singles Vol 1”, the LP inners and CD booklet are packed with label shots, copious other images and an extensive sleeve note that gives deep detail about the featured songs. It also makes the package look as good as it sounds.

"Belly Lick" was originally released in 1968 on the Blue Cat label. "Belly Lick" is a wicked, fast-paced track that fuses early Reggae with the infectious drive of Mento. The call-and-response vocals and raw, party-like intensity make this track a standout piece of vintage Jamaican fire and a great nod to Jamaica’s traditional folk music roots. The track's quality and rarity has made it a very coveted item among Reggae vinyl collectors.
The party continues with the energetic and wild "Game Song", a wicked instrumental track difficult to describe. Its relentless pace and goofy but intricated orchestral madness suggest the soundtracks for a black and white animated cartoon from the 30s but in a Jamaican way! It is a perfect B Side for the outstanding "Belly Lick" especially considering that "The Game Song" was also written by Dennis Walks. Sadly it was the only known collaboration between Dennis Walks and Drumbago due to Drumbago untimely death in 1969.

"Haunted House" was originally released in 1970 on the Upsetter label in Jamaica and later on Trojan Records in the UK. Originally composed as "Spinning Wheel" by David Clayton-Thomas, "Haunted House" transforms the brilliant but weird psych soul jazz funk hit into an even weirder reggae instrumental, driven by syncopated rolling basslines and hypnotic skanking groove. The track is a wicked Upsetters’ production, blending haunting elements with a driving reggae rhythm.
"Double Wheel" was released as a B Side to “Haunted House” on the original single and serves as a perfect complement to the A Side. Like "Haunted House," "Double Wheel" is an instrumental adaptation of the song "Spinning Wheel” similar to the A Side but featuring a mesmerizing organ.
Both tracks are prime examples of Lee Perry’s early work before he fully transitioned into the deep, psychedelic dub that would define his later years. This reissue brings these wicked gems back to light, allowing a new generation of Reggae enthusiasts to experience their brilliance.

Inspired by the Zamrock movement of the 1970s, Immy Owusu & Sensible J’s swirling psych/afro/funk EP ‘Spiritual War’ is a rowdy, boisterous selection of songs about injustice, insanity, and the inanity of modern life in the burning house that is late capitalism. Owusu, a Ghanaian Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist, bonded with South African Australian drummer, beatmaker, and producer Sensible J (Sampa The Great, Cool Out Sun, Remi) over a shared love of the raw sounds of 70s African music, in particular Zamrock artists like Witch and Amanaz, and cooked up the EP in J’s iconic House Of Beige studio. Doug Shorts is back on the scene after decades away from the limelight. His band, Master Plan Inc., released two 45rpm singles in the early 80s, then quickly faded into obscurity. Original copies, rarer than hen's teeth, will now set you back upwards of $1000 on the second hand market. It wasn’t until he was discovered by local Chicago label, Cherries Records, that he began releasing new music again. He’s been on a steady climb ever since. In 2019, he recorded the EP, “Casual Encounter” on Daptone Records, produced by Homer Steinweiss and Frank Dukes. It was a hit with funk fanatics and DJs alike. Doug is now back with a full-length album “Love’s Touch” featuring 10 brand new songs reminiscent of early to mid-80s R&B and Boogie. The album’s lead single “Hot Potato” is a Nigerian Afro-Boogie inspired banger. Doug describes his love interest: “She’s a rump shaker, I knew it from the start, the kind of girl you reel in…then she’ll tear your heart apart”. The b-side, “On Our Way To Love” is a future wedding anthem with it’s sweet lyrics: “We walk this path together, this vow we make is forever”. Doug's falsetto weaves over a steady mid-tempo drum machine loop - a nod to MTUME's "Juicy Fruit". Lush Rhodes chords and chirpy synths make way for a funky slap bassline. At age 74, Doug shows his youth, wisdom and life experience but more importantly, he shows us that he’s still got it!

DESCRIPTION
Joe Bataan's extensive discography was expanded in 2022 with the release of some old recordings from the King of Latin Soul that had never been previously published.
After the success of his album "Riot!" (1968), Bataan had easy access to a studio whenever inspiration struck to record a new song sketch or even a complete track. Sometimes, he would finish the recording entirely and offer it in its final version to Fania for release. This usually worked, although on some occasions, the song was rejected.
In the case of ‘Drug Story,’ the track was recorded without a clear final purpose, even though Bataan hoped it would become part of an album. When the Fania executives heard the result, they immediately rejected it, thinking it promoted drug use. The tapes were filed away and lost in oblivion until they ended up in a thrift store in New York. From there, they were rescued by a Latin music specialist and later sold, eventually making their way to the Vampisoul archives.
The song was finally released in its entirety in 2022 on the LP "Drug Story" by Now Again. It features a long, slow vocal intro that evolves into a more uptempo track with two very distinct parts, to the point that it almost feels like two different songs. It transports us to the best moment of Joe Bataan's career, with all of his classic ingredients, delivering a track as good as his most famous songs. Bataan himself takes on the lead vocals and piano, Bobby Rodríguez handles the flute, sax, and bass, Pete ‘Choki’ Quintero plays the drums, and William Howes Jr. plays the electric guitar with wah-wah effects.
We thought that the song deserved to be released as a single as well, and that its structure was perfect for each side to have a separate identity. So here it is, for the first time on a 45, ‘Drug Story,’ the lost track by Joe Bataan. Pure Latin soul, recorded at the peak of the artist's career!

"Skinheads A Message To You" is a quintessential example of the Skinhead Reggae subgenre that emerged in the UK during the late 1960s. "If I Had Wings" was initially released as the B Side of Audrey’s "You'll Lose A Good Thing" and rightly so as it shares the exact same musical be it with very different lyrics. Riley’s comical lyrics being loosely taken from the traditional gospel "If I Had Wings Like A Dove". “Wings” is a fun and energetic tune that blends the rhythm of Rocksteady with the emerging rhythms of early Reggae. As part of Ace 50 BGP has hooked up with our old friends at Concord Music to reissue one of the most important albums in our story. In 1987 as the dance jazz scene morphed into acid jazz Billy Hawks ‘Oh Baby (I Believe I’m Losing You)’ was filling the dance floors where either Gilles Peterson or Baz Fe Jazz were playing.
The Prestige Records album that featured the track ‘Heavy Soul!’ was impossible to find, and frustrated DJs were desperately trying to find a copy. BGP - the Ace label that the two DJs helmed - reissued the album and put the in-demand track onto a 12 inch single. With supply sufficient it became a club smash, crossing over to become a mod classic and one of the most important cuts from our scene.
In the ensuing years the tracks status has remained undimmed and the album has never turned up in significant numbers, and yet it has never been reissued since. With an attention to detail that has always been the Ace way, we have carefully mastered the record to be as close to the sound of the original Van Gelder mastering of 1967, and created and accurate representation of the album and label cover art.
Hawks never lived to be rediscovered, but through our musical detective work we tracked down his brother and found out as much of his story as possible, and also unearthed a couple of pictures. The Virginian born organist with the amazing voice was a fixture on the North Eastern lounge bar circuit, which was the entertainment backbone off Black American music at the time, and his full story is told on the illustrated inner sleeve that comes with this release.

Country singer Charlie Rich has previous on the rare soul dance scene with ‘Love Is After Me’, the Hayes/Porter track recorded in Memphis for Hi Records, being popular in mod-frequented soul discos of the 60s. ‘Don’t Tear Me Down’ was recorded around the same time, but was unissued until a 1988 LP collection of Rich’s Hi-recorded tracks. Astute DJ Dean Anderson picked up on the powerful beat ballad and played it in the 90s, making it very popular - leading to a Kent 45 release in 2007. That pressing is long-gone and the record continues to be spun at northern soul venues, thereby causing this second issue of the superlative soul song.
We have coupled it with ‘Hotels, Motels’, another great soul dance track from the same sessions; it debuts on 45 here.
