Mixed and arranged by Khyrsis, this full-length LP delivers The Musalini’s suave, storytelling prowess over Khrysis’ meticulously crafted soundscapes, brimming with jazzy loops, boom-bap grit, and cinematic vibes.
Pure IZM 2 dives deeper into the lavish lifestyle bars that defined its predecessor, with Musalini’s sharp pen painting vivid tales of ambition, hustle, and triumph. Khrysis laces each track with his trademark polish, blending soulful grooves, crisp drums, and subtle flourishes that hit like a late-night cruise through the city. Standout tracks like "99 Groove" and “On The Go” showcase the duo’s undeniable chemistry.
With stunning artwork by Huey P. and mastering by Rick Carson, this release is a must-have for hip-hop purists and vinyl collectors alike. Pure IZM 2 is more than an album—it’s a vibe, a testament to the timeless essence of real rap. Pre-order now at Fat Beats and experience the next chapter of this underground classic.

DESCRIPTION
In 1996, Busta Rhymes delivered his debut album, The Coming, three years after the Leaders of the New School unofficially disbanded. Though his talents were evident on those Leaders of the New School releases, Busta went on a series of features that only built up the public's desire for a solo Busta album. Right out of the gate, Busta dropped his classic debut single "Woo Hah!! (Got You All in Check)" that made it abundantly clear he was to be mentioned among Hip Hop's greatest solo artists. The energy and originality packed on that one song set a tone for the album that displays Busta's raw talent and ability to bend words with his ever rambunctious flow. The album features production by Easy Mo Bee, DJ Scratch, Q-Tip, and J Dilla. Songs such as "Everything Remains Raw", "Abandon Ship", and "Still Shining" all rise above as The Coming's stand-out tracks, but "Ill Vibe" is the album's crown jewel moment. Busta sounds right at home over this J Dilla beat, trading verses with his Native Tongue cohort Q-Tip. The Coming was a critical and commercial success for Busta Rhymes. It reached #6 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1996 and has since received a platinum certification from RIAA. As mentioned, The Coming boasts the hit single "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check " which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1996. It was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. It also ended up sporting another hit single, It's a Party featuring Zhané. The Coming shows amazing variety where Busta can break free from the bells and the whistles of the Busta Dungeon Dragon flow to explore other ways of leaving our jaws open by his incredible lyricism. The Coming surely lives up to its title, as Busta delivers a performance that ignited his impeccable solo career.

DESCRIPTION
"Things I Seen," the highly anticipated collaborative album between Bronze Nazareth and Termanology, is nothing short of a masterclass in hip-hop artistry. This project represents the perfect intersection of two legendary forces in the underground scene, each bringing their unique flavor to the table. With Bronze Nazareth’s unparalleled production and poetic lyricism joining forces with Termanology’s razor-sharp rhymes and magnetic presence, "Things I Seen" is an experience that transcends mere music—it’s an audible journey through life, struggle, and triumph.
The creation of "Things I Seen" is a testament to the synergy of two creative titans who have long earned their places in hip-hop’s pantheon. Bronze Nazareth, known for crafting lush, cinematic soundscapes, and Termanology, celebrated for his lyricism and storytelling, embarked on this project with a shared vision: to create an album that is both timeless and authentic. The result is a seamless blend of gritty beats, thought-provoking lyrics, and an unrelenting dedication to the craft.
The album's genesis can be traced to a mutual admiration between the two artists, with both recognizing the potential to create something extraordinary together. Sessions were filled with late-night conversations, shared stories, and a deep dive into the realities of their respective journeys. This organic collaboration is evident in the cohesive sound and thematic depth of "Things I Seen."
From the raw introspection of tracks like “Sometimes You Go” to the hard-hitting bars on cuts like “Alotta Prose (I Know)” and “Beast Mode,” this album delivers a dynamic listening experience. Fans of both artists will find themselves revisiting the project time and again, uncovering new layers of meaning with each listen. "Things I Seen" isn’t just an album; it’s a declaration of the enduring power of hip-hop and the stories it tells.

DESCRIPTION
In discussions of the classic hip-hop era of the 1980s, frequently lost in the shuffle is the homegrown scene of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is unfortunate due to the wealth of talent the scene produced, including bona fide legends such as Schoolly D, Three Times Dope, Cash Money & Marvelous, and of course, the wildly successful DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Frequently underrated is Tuff Crew, who were billed as "Philly's First Rap Supergroup", and consisted of a crew of ethnically diverse MCs and a DJ, who were regular performers of North Philly's famed After Midnight club, and who definitely represented a more hardcore rap style than some of their fellow Philly crews. Throughout the mid-to-late 1980s, Tuff Crew performed alongside some of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, including Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J, and 2 Live Crew, but never reached the heights of commercial success, despite landing various singles on the Billboard Rap charts. The peak of this success undoubtedly came with the release of their 1988 LP Danger Zone, which featured 10 tracks of classic 80s rap, including the Billboard-charting "My Part Of Town" (#23 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles charts). This album cemented Tuff Crew in the hip-hop history books as one of the dopest crews to ever come out of Philly, and unlike most late 80s rap albums, the lyrics and beats still bang hard in 2025.

DESCRIPTION
Those profiled include Egyptian guitarist Omar Khorshid, maverick producer/arranger/composer Elias Rahbani, mysterious talents like Nicolas Dick and Robert Maalouf and the father of the label’s founder, Abdallah Chahine, a pianist of immense talent. As told in detailed liner notes by DJ, music researcher and legacy-keeper Ernesto Chahoud and Natalie Shooter, this period of Lebanese music formed the soundtrack to the city of Beirut during its multiple transformations, from its 1950s to 1960s heyday as ‘the Switzerland of the Orient’ through to the mid 1970s and 1980s, when it soundtracked the tragic days of the Lebanese Civil War. From Chahoud’s liner notes: “I spent years going through thousands of titles from one of the largest catalog of Lebanese and Arabic music, by one of the earliest labels in the Arab world, Voix De L’Orient, to handpick the 12 songs that represent a survey into this momentous catalog. The Lebanese musical experiment, stretching almost seven decades, has offered one of the most complex and fully fledged modern Oriental scenes of the Arab world. These 12 songs were released in different periods and embody a wide range of musical ideas from the most adventurous on the Voix De L’Orient label, those musicians that played major roles in the renaissance of ancient musical traditions. So, from the ’60s and ’70s, you’ll hear Adballah Chahine improvising on Oriental scales on a custom-made piano that he developed in order to play quarter tones; you’ll engage the radical approach to folkloric music from the legendary Iraqi composer and oud player Munir Bechir; you’ll enjoy the timeless blend of Occidental and Oriental forms as fused by the genius Elias Rahbani. The songs by Georgette Sayegh, Adib Abou Antoun and Robert Maalouf give a sense of Lebanon’s unique ’70s and ’80s pop sounds. You might think that this music comes from a foreign, faraway culture, and I suppose it does, for some, but this music is close to us all. This anthology is presented 100 percent free of cultural appropriation. This album is a genuine attempt to escape the ephemeral aspect of everyday, fast music fashions. This album is absolute beauty to play out loud, while waiting for the second volume to come.”

Cold Heat is Eothen “Egon” Alapatt’s a follow-up to the famous Funky 16 Corners set he curated in the early 2000s. And like that one, Cold Heat is overflowing with great bits that had barely (or never) been heard by the rest of the world at large. Egon went through a range of rare singles, masters, and demos and came up with tunes that burn with a brightness that's undeniable.
The grooves are all on the harder end of the James Brown Funky People side of the spectrum and some tracks are by names that finally got their due here, thanks to Egon, Now-Again, and some of the other funky forces doing the good work over the years.

Jackie Mittoo’s ‘Reggae Magic’ is a new collection from the great Jackie Mittoo. The album features a mixture of classic tunes and rarities from the period 1967-74, when Mittoo was at the height of his musical powers.
Mittoo’s solo career began after the end of The Skatalites in 1965. He began pushing new musical boundaries, creating a uniquely identifiable organ-led funky reggae sound that owed as much to Booker T and The MGs, Jimmy Smith, Stax and Motown as to the post-ska and emergent rocksteady island rhythms of Kingston, Jamaica.
His solo work at the legendary Studio One spanned seven albums and hundreds of singles. Aside from producer and founder Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd, it’s hard to think of anyone more central to the sound and success of Studio One than Mittoo; keyboard player extraordinaire, songwriter, arranger, musician, truly the Keyboard King at Studio One.
Jackie Mittoo had been the youngest founding member of The Skatalites (at age 16), probably the most important group in Jamaican music. After they split, he became leader of the three pivotal groups at Studio One – The Soul Brothers, The Soul Vendors and Sound Dimension. He also became musical director for Studio One, helping create countless hits for singers Ken Boothe, Bob Andy, The Wailers, John Holt, Delroy Wilson and more – unforgettable tunes like Alton Ellis’ ‘I’m Still in Love with You’, Marcia Griffiths’ ‘Feel Like Jumping’, The Heptones’ ‘Baby Why’ and others.
Between 1965 and 1968, many of the tunes created at Studio One can be attributed to Mittoo – timeless instrumental tracks, recorded either under his own name or those of The Soul Brothers, Soul Vendors and Sound Dimension, that have become the basis for literally 1000s and 1000s of Jamaican songs over many decades, giving the music an unsurpassed longevity.
The endurance of his music was as a direct result of significant developments in Jamaican music in the 1970s, namely the creation of three important new styles: Dub, Deejay and Dancehall. In the early 1970s Mittoo’s instrumental tracks were used as the musical source for a series of classic Studio One dub albums. At the same time Deejays at Studio One, including Dillinger, Prince Jazzbo and Dennis Alcapone, began toasting over these same popular rhythms to create their own new songs.
In the mid-70s, a new generation of Studio One singers and deejays, including Sugar Minott, Freddie McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Michigan & Smiley and others, began once again creating new melodies over these original instrumentals, signalling the birth of a new Jamaican style that became known as ‘dancehall’. As dancehall swept across the island, rival producers copied these now classic rhythms.
These original Jackie Mittoo-driven tunes spread like a virus throughout Jamaican music; be they the instrumental cuts to tunes such as Alton Ellis’ ‘Mad Mad’ , ‘I’m Just A Guy’, Larry Marshall’s ‘Mean Girl’, Slim Smith’s ‘Rougher Yet’, and instrumentals such as Mittoo’s classic ‘Hot Milk’ or ‘One Step Beyond’, The Sound Dimension’s ‘Real Rock’, ‘Heavy Rock’, ‘Full Up’, ‘Drum Song’, ‘Rockfort Rock’ ... and the list goes on. These tracks became a constant soundtrack to the island, emitting from the ever-present sound of speaker boxes strung up around dancehalls.
This recycling travelled even farther afield; The Sound Dimension’s instrumental ‘Real Rock’, updated by Willie Williams on his classic ‘Armageddon Time’ was in turn covered by The Clash. Lily Allen sampled Mittoo’s debut solo single ‘Free Soul’ for number one hit ‘Smile’; Dawn Penn’s ‘You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No)’, accompanied by The Soul Vendors, was revived by Penn and producers Steely & Cleevie in 1994, since covered by Rihanna, Ghostface Killah, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley and Beyonce.
And so it goes; an endless time-leaping, continent-hopping diasporic musical map of the world with all roads essentially leading back to one man – Jackie Mittoo.Jackie Mittoo’s ‘Reggae Magic’ is a new collection from the great Jackie Mittoo. DESCRIPTION
BBE Music is proud to present the latest J Jazz Masterclass Series reissue, 1978 soul/jazz tour de force album ’Push’ by Noriko Miyamoto.
For the first time, this critically acclaimed series that delves deep into the history of Japanese Jazz will be releasing an album by a Japanese female singer, Noriko Miyamoto produced by one of the legendary figures in Japanese Jazz, Isao Suzuki.
The release of her incredible debut album, ‘Push’, coincided with a surge in popularity for local female jazz singers such Kimiko Kasai, Yasuko Agawa, etc. that crossed over into the pop market. It was originally released by the now-defunct label, Yupiteru Records in 1978. Since then, it has been reissued a few times in Japan but recently, along with a surge of worldwide interest in old Japanese music, ‘Push’ has been gaining a cult status among foreign music heads, with the price for an original pressing skyrocketing in the second hand record market. This reissue of ‘Push’ will be the first time ever that this album will be officially released worldwide.
Long before R&B music went onto enjoy mainstream success in Japan, a soul music and disco loving lady, Noriko Miyamoto who started her music career working as a dancer at the legendary Tokyo disco, ‘Mugen’, was inspired by Tina Turner’s performance there and decided to became a soul singer. It was at a time in the early 1970s when there were only a handful of female songstresses who sang soulfully in Japan. In 1977, Miyamoto was scouted by Isao Suzuki to join his band, Soul Family and subsequently, with their backing, he produced Push, an album that kickstarted her career. It is an album that exquisitely combines her jazzy and soulful vocals with Suzuki’s acoustic bass and precocious playing from his youthful and vibrant group at the time.
Along with Sadao Watanabe, Terumasa Hino, Masabumi Kikuchi and George Otsuka, bassist, cellist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer and band leader, Isao Suzuki was considered to be one of the most influential figures in Japanese jazz history. Beloved by many in the Japanese jazz scene as “Oma-san”- Suzuki was renowned for developing young talent. Noriko was one of his prodigies, and so ‘Push’ became a vehicle to showcase her and his band as well, which featured notably future renowned players such as keyboardist, Masanori Sasaji, who went on to back Yasuaki Shimizu and guitarist, Kazumasa Akiyama, who played with many major Japanese Jazz musicians. According to Noriko, these young musicians in the group helped Suzuki create a brand new sound, mixing orthodox jazz with the crossover / fusion sound that was popular at the time, coming together supremely on ‘Push’.
For ‘Push’, Suzuki focused on Noriko’s unique prowess of singing songs in English, somewhat a rarity in the Japanese music scene at the time. She sang two jazz standards, ‘Everything I Have Is Yours’ and ‘Stella By Starlight’ on the album. Noriko also wrote English lyrics for two original compositions of Suzuki’s, an instrumental piece, ‘Cadillac Woman’, and ‘My Life’, a song that he composed for Kimiko Kasai, who’d originally sung it in Japanese on her 1977 album, ’Tokyo Special’.
Noriko fulfilled her long-held dream of becoming a soul singer after she moved to the US in 1990 and subsequently joined a number of prestigious outfits, such as Eddie Murphy’s band, Graham Central Station, the Brothers Johnson and Side Effect, but ‘Push’ is the album that paved the way for her career and hopefully, with this first time ever, worldwide reissue, it will attract more listeners. Sadly the producer of this album, Isao Suzuki sadly passed away recently at the age of 89. It is unfortunate that he was not able to see the reissue of this special album that he produced for Noriko Miyamoto.

The Flatbush duo, The Underachievers, make their long-awaited return to hip-hop with Homecoming, their first project in five years. True to its name, this nine-track release is a powerful reintroduction—rooted in their signature sound while reflecting their artistic evolution. As pioneers of underground hip-hop, The Underachievers have consistently pushed boundaries with critically acclaimed projects that have shaped the genre. Previously released standalone singles “Brand New,” “Megatron,” and “Have Nots” provide an anthemic ode to unity and strength, a raw reflection on perseverance and showcase their dynamic range. The project opens with a special introduction from New York’s very own DJ Enuff, setting the stage for Homecoming with a declaration that The Underachievers are back and ready to take over. As the project unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the undeniable chemistry between AKTHESAVIOR and Issa Gold. With some production contributions from Issa Gold, Homecoming is more than a project—it’s a statement, a celebration, and a testament to The Underachievers’ enduring impact.

Mr. Money Man
Mr. Money Man (Version)

DESCRIPTION
The music keeps flowing out of the Attic Studio, and we’re blessed once again with a fresh new 45 from “Marcus I meets aDUBta.” The latest release in their 7-inch series is "Mr. Money Man", a powerful blend of Nyabinghi spirit and Rocksteady swing—anchored by a deep one-drop groove. With its full auxiliary percussion stylings and the fun off-shoot lyrics from singer Marcus I, this single is a unique addition to their discography. The single further showcases the authentic, high-quality craftsmanship of producer and drummer aDUBta, who hails from Bavaria, Germany. Known for his analog production style and hands-on approach, aDUBta played and recorded all instruments himself. "Mr. Money Man" was written during a series of sessions last year, as part of the duo’s ongoing effort to channel the timeless vibes of 1960s Studio One. The B-side, simply titled "Version", delivers a heavy dub cut mixed live by aDUBta on his trusty Tascam 388. Expect space echo trails, feedback swells, and percussive drops galore—classic ingredients with their own twist. A serious sound system piece and a must-have for selectors and collectors alike. Better grab doubles.

DESCRIPTION
When Night Owls released their first 45 in July 2019, few could have predicted that their vision of reimagining soul classics in a Jamaican style would blossom into a catalog of fifteen 45s featuring a total of 27 songs with many of today's leading soul singers and legendary artists. Following the success of their first compilation LP, "Versions," it was only a matter of time before Night Owls would grace us with a Vol. 2. Now, in 2025, we are excited to present "Versions II," which compiles their latest seven 45s to date, tastefully programmed from start to finish. Raising the bar even higher, this production team, comprising Dan Ubick, Blake Colie, Dave Wilder, and Roger Rivas, further cements their distinct vision and signature sound, delivering hit after hit over the years. With Night Owls' twist on many beloved, chart-topping hits and diggers' choice deep cuts (including the highly in-demand and long-sold-out single "After Laughter b/w Didn't I"), producer Dan Ubick has once again meticulously curated a tracklist that highlights each vocalist's strengths. Featuring many well-known guest artists such as Hollie Cook (Prince Fatty, Mr. Bongo), N'Dea Davenport (The Brand New Heavies), Chris Dowd (Fishbone), Ranking Joe (Greensleeves, Joe Gibbs), Tippa Lee (Studio One, Dub Club), Trish Toledo, Asdru Sierra (Ozomatli), Malik Moore (Ocean 11), Alex Désert (Hepcat) & The Lions, Eli "Paperboy" Reed, Destani Wolf, Gina Murrell (U Roy, Wailing Souls, Orgone), Chris Murray, Miles Tackett (Breakestra, Funky Sole), and Jr. Thomas & The Volcanos, "Versions II" is yet another heavy soul and dub-infused LP, ready for turntables across the globe.

CB Records is thrilled to announce the latest 7" release, Vindaloo, a groundbreaking collaboration between J.J. Whitefield—legendary force behind The Poets of Rhythm—and San Francisco's renowned DJ/producer titan, Mophono. This dynamic release features two explosive remixes, Vindaloo and Maccheroni, both crafted with Mophono’s signature "Skip on Beat" style and capped with killer drum break outro tools for DJs and beat enthusiasts alike. Both tracks are reimaginings of songs originally featured on the first volume of the Madlib Invazion Music Library Series, giving them new life with Mophono’s innovative production techniques and gritty funk aesthetic. Known for his love of retro funk and hard-hitting rhythms, Mophono didn’t stop at just one remix—he eagerly tackled two distinct reinterpretations of the same project, showcasing his versatility and respect for Whitefield’s original compositions. The Artists Behind the Magic Mophono (a.k.a. DJ Centipede) has long been a driving force in the experimental funk and breakbeat scenes, blending retro influences with cutting-edge production. His passion for gritty, percussion-driven tracks is on full display here, cementing his status as one of the Bay Area’s most influential producers. J.J. Whitefield, known as the mastermind behind The Poets of Rhythm, has been lauded for his pioneering role in the modern funk revival. Bosco Mann, co-founder of Daptone Records, once described The Poets of Rhythm as "the band that convinced me soul music wasn’t dead," crediting their influence as foundational to Daptone’s success and the global resurgence of soul music. Together, Mophono and Whitefield deliver a release that bridges eras, fusing the raw energy of classic funk with forward-thinking beats. Don’t Miss Out! Vindaloo is a limited-edition collector’s dream and an essential tool for DJs and beat heads who crave head-nodding grooves and fiery drum breaks. Secure your copy before it’s gone!
