DESCRIPTION

Lovingly re-issued 70s album - the first time ever available on 2LP

A hidden-gem in the disco genre

KingUnderground are excited to reissue late 1970’s, Norwegian forgotten gem, ‘Handle With Care’, by vocalist and composer, Alex.

In 1977, Alexandra Naumik, better known by her singular recording artist name, Alex, dropped 3 full length albums, which included her debut LP, ‘Handle With Care’. A funky, disco, synth heavy, guitar driven collection of tunes, that not only displayed her own songwriting ability, but also new arrangements and fresh takes on 70’s classics.

The original pressing of ‘Handle With Care’ was a single LP, but KingUnderground’s devotion to high quality pressings will give the record its first ever double LP pressing, ensuring that all of the detailed production & dynamics shine through in each track and providing the punch that will see these tracks light up dancefloors.

Alex wrote and arranged a majority of ‘Handle With Care’ with legendary Norwegian producer and instrumentalist, Svein Gundersen, who not only arranged most of the record, but can also be credited with the bass lines that propel the groovy and driving moments. Gundersen was well known for the band, Aunt Mary, and in addition to producing for many Norwegian based musicians, he also composed for film and theater.

Alex’s solo career lasted until 1993, during which she released a total of 8 studio albums. They all have their gems, and carry a similar spirit reflected on ‘Handle With Care’, in that none of them have boundaries for genre. Yet, the energy and emotion captured on these recordings here makes Alex’s debut album her most exciting, engaging, and critically acclaimed body of work. It was Norway’s Album of the Year in 1977, and she was the first Norwegian artist to sign international recording contracts with Universal Music Group (PolyGram at that time) and RCA records at the time.
