Apócrifo is a Mexican musical duet, formed by the composer, pianist and producer Kefren Rivera, and the percussionist and drummer Carlos Huitrón. The project is based on hip hop, academic experimental music, jazz, new technologies and electroacoustic music, prioritizing studio production over live performance. The members apply their academic knowledge and personal musical experience to shape their sound, articulating instrumental, compositional and performance techniques. Under the premise that "nothing is original", the name Apócrifo refers to unauthorized copying, which allows a great diversity of musical and cultural elements to be taken as an influence.
