DESCRIPTION
After eighteen years holding down a legendary residency at LA's Seven Grand, Magulo is finally ready to give the world what the room already knew. The five-piece—guitarist Christian Wunderlich, trumpeter and keys player Gabe Steiner, bassist JP Maramba, drummer Vince Fossett, and saxophonist and bandleader Aaron Leibowitz (aka Ronny Sax)—is a collective of heavy hitters who've toured with some of the biggest names in music but have always called Magulo home base.
Their sound is a live wire melding of Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz, surf rock, Motown, and whatever else the moment demands—rooted in improvisation, built on trust, and tight as hell despite a name that translates from Tagalog to "disheveled, messy." Their self-titled debut album, due Summer 2026 on Mixto Records, was captured in a single session in a Hollywood Hills living room steeped in musical history.
