Following the success of their first single on F-Spot Records, "Heavy Manners," Marcus I meets aDUBta are starting the new year fresh with their second single, "Listen Up My Son." Recorded and produced by aDUBta at his Attic Roots Studio in Bavaria, Germany, and cut from the same writing sessions with singer Marcus I, "Listen Up My Son" further continues the authentic early roots reggae sound this collaboration is bursting on the scene with. With a rich analog sound, polished and mixed by aDUBta on his Tascam 388, to the soulful vocal tone of Marcus I, this new 7" brings the groove down in tempo, transporting you straight to Jamaica during the 1960s & 70s. With the lyrics, written by Marcus I and dedicated to his son, "Listen Up My Son" is a very personal song that touches the heart. Featuring a proper dub "Version" on side B, this live dub take from aDUBta showcases the distinct harmonies sung by Marcus I and the riddim section of The Black Oaks Roots Allstars comprising of Andi 'aDUBta' Bauer on Drums, Jannis Klenke on Bass, and Mauricio-Joran Ceseña on Guitar, this "Version" is complete with spring reverb and space echo trails for a fresh new experience of this instant classic.

DESCRIPTION
Dean Chalkley’s Good For The Soul celebrates the joy of dancing to northern soul. This fast paced stylised short film plugs right into the emotional and cathartic nature of the music. Intricate and expressive dance moves are delivered by Durassie Kiangangu to a soundtrack of blistering rhythms and raw vocals from Tobi Lark’s rare soul track ‘True True Love’. The resulting combination is a fusion of dextrous dance moves and potent sounds that will turn your heartbeat up.
The film was originally presented at 50 Years On The Soul Stays Strong exhibition, that marked the 50th anniversary of the first legendary Wigan Casino Allnighters in 1973. Northern soul has a rich legacy and its devotees are very passionate about it, but this film focuses on the here and now, the energy, heat and wonder of being in your own dancing world.
The northern soul scene continues to attract devotees young and old all keeping the faith and letting the music move them.
‘True True Love’ was released as the first Kent Select single in 2006 and original copies sell for £300 plus − if you can find one. Ace are delighted to re-issue ‘True True Love’ on vinyl paired with an unreleased instrumental version by the Dave & Darrell Band.
The single comes in a picture sleeve featuring a still from Dean Chalkley’s amazing film along with liner notes written by Ady Crosdell.

New York rapper Jimmy Spicer was one of the first clients of behemoth rap management company RUSH, and recorded a handful of important singles in the early 1980s.
The best of the bunch was his sole outing for Spring ‘Money (Dollar Bill Y’All’) which rides of a crunch funk beat, and has become a much sampled classic. The original 7-inch mix is reissued here for the first time.

Detroit producer Dave Hamilton is now renowned for his production on records by the likes of Little Ann and OC Tolbert, but he was originally a guitarist – an early member of the Motown house band – and continued to release records throughout his career.
‘The Deacons’ and ‘Pisces Pace’ came out on his TCB label in 1970 and this is a repro of the super-rare original release.
