To crate diggers, he’s Tyrone Thomas, the man behind Tyrone Thomas and the Whole Darn Family’s “Seven Minutes of Funk”—one of the most sampled tracks in music history. But dig a little deeper, and Northern Soul and Low-Rider Oldies devotees know him better as Little Tommy, a teenage sensation who cut his teeth in the ’60s on August Moon’s Sound of Soul label. Now, Secret Stash Records is thrilled to present the first-ever reproduction of this Richmond, VA native’s 1964 debut, “I’m Hurt” b/w “Lov’h.” Clean copies of this rare gem easily fetch over $200, and for good reason. Originally released when Thomas was only 16, “I’m Hurt” became a Low Rider Oldies anthem, while “Lov’H” has fueled Northern Soul all-nighters for generations. This limited pressing—only 500 hand-numbered units—pays homage to Little Tommy’s early impact, preserving a slice of soul history that’s as rare as it is timeless.

First time 45 reissue of these two awesome Latin jazz-funk gems from Venezuela.
La Retreta Mayor was founded and led by guitarist Alex Rodríguez. ‘Torta de pan’, reminiscent of recordings of classic US funk bands such as the JBs, was originally included in their only and hard-to-find LP. On the flip side of our 45 we find ‘La venganza’ that was part of a mega rare soundtrack written and recorded by Pablo Schneider for the obscure Venezuelan sexploitation film “Sobre la Hierba… Virgen”. Both songs were released on Discomoda in 1976 and the original records are almost impossible to find in any condition.
How cool and handy is to have both songs together on a DJ-friendly 45? First time 7” reissue.

Leon Thomas is of course famed as one of the most important voices to have emerged from the 1960s jazz scene. He worked alongside Pharoah Sanders and Lonnie Liston Smith, co-composing ‘The Creator Has A Master Plan’.

New York rapper Jimmy Spicer was one of the first clients of behemoth rap management company RUSH, and recorded a handful of important singles in the early 1980s.
The best of the bunch was his sole outing for Spring ‘Money (Dollar Bill Y’All’) which rides of a crunch funk beat, and has become a much sampled classic. The original 7-inch mix is reissued here for the first time.

DESCRIPTION
‘Search For The Inner Self’, Jon Lucien’s 1971 ethereal, soul masterpiece has gained admirers costantly since its 1971 release. The Beau Ray Fleming production, ingeniously arranged by Horace Ott in New York, kick-started a successful career of sensuous soul songs that saw him write and record more than a dozen albums from the 70s to the noughties.
‘We’ve Got Love’ is more of an “old school” 60s soul dancer, recorded around the same time, that was not heard until a self-released CD in 1999. It has remained under the radar to all but a few of the cognoscenti. This vinyl debut will earn it many more fans.

Detroit producer Dave Hamilton is now renowned for his production on records by the likes of Little Ann and OC Tolbert, but he was originally a guitarist – an early member of the Motown house band – and continued to release records throughout his career.
‘The Deacons’ and ‘Pisces Pace’ came out on his TCB label in 1970 and this is a repro of the super-rare original release.
